ADHD Treatment and Medication Management in Plymouth, MI

Personalized ADHD care that works with your life, not against it.

Living with ADHD as an adult can feel like your brain is always running in different directions. At Momentum Mental Health in Plymouth, Michigan, our board-certified providers understand that effective ADHD treatment is not just about medication. It is about finding the right approach that fits your unique needs and lifestyle. We work through it together, at your pace, to help you manage symptoms while staying true to who you are.

Before Scheduling For Concerns Of ADHD

Because most ADHD medications are controlled substances, we require patients to complete an in-person psychological assessment before their first appointment with us. Online self-assessment quizzes do not meet this requirement. If you do not already have psychological testing done then we may require you to do this as the next step before receiving a prescription.
Pediatric ADHD care is limited to direct referral cases only and still require psychological testing.

Understanding adult ADHD

ADHD affects how your brain processes information, manages attention, and controls impulses. While many people think of ADHD as a childhood condition, millions of adults live with symptoms that impact their work, relationships, and daily life. You might notice difficulty concentrating on tasks, feeling restless or fidgety, struggling with time management, or having trouble organizing your thoughts. These are not personal failings. They are neurological differences that respond well to the right treatment approach.

Our approach

ADHD medication management works by helping regulate brain chemistry in ways that improve focus, reduce impulsivity, and support better executive function. We start with a comprehensive evaluation to understand your specific symptoms, lifestyle, and treatment goals. Together we explore medication options, always considering how they fit with your daily routine and any other health conditions. Our approach emphasizes gradual adjustments and regular check-ins to ensure your treatment evolves with your needs.

Who Benefits from ADHD Treatment

Adults Seeking Their First ADHD Evaluation

Whether you have suspected ADHD for years or are newly exploring the possibility, we start with a thorough evaluation to understand your symptoms, history, and what you are hoping treatment will help you achieve. Typically, you will have already completed psychological testing for ADHD with a psychologist before this evaluation, as this helps ensure an accurate and well-informed treatment plan.

Adults Whose Current Medication Is Not Working

We specialize in medication optimization. If your current ADHD medication is not providing enough relief, causing unwanted side effects, or no longer fitting your life, we can evaluate your current treatment and explore better options together.

First Responders, Athletes, and High-Performance Professionals

We have experience working with first responders, athletes, and other professionals in high-performance careers. We understand the unique considerations these roles require and develop treatments that support rather than interfere with job performance.

What to Expect from ADHD Treatment

Comprehensive Evaluation

Your first appointment includes a thorough review of your ADHD symptoms, medical history, current concerns, and treatment goals. Patients seeking ADHD medication management are typically expected to have completed psychological testing or a formal ADHD evaluation with a psychologist before starting care. We use that documentation, along with our clinical assessment, to better understand your needs and discuss medication options that are appropriate, thoughtful, and aligned with your lifestyle.

Gradual Medication Optimization

We start conservatively and make adjustments based on your response and any side effects. We also discuss the difference between stimulant and non-stimulant options and which might be most appropriate for your specific situation and health needs.

Ongoing Collaborative Support

Your treatment plan evolves with you. We coordinate with your therapy team when applicable and adjust medications as needed. You are never locked into an approach that is not serving you well.
